Winter
Mild Winter with snow accumulations between 1 and 2 inches. Branson is now open year round. Several years ago Branson use to close in January and February. Main roads are now kept open.

Spring
Branson's Spring begins in late March and April. Many of the theaters open their shows for the year about this time.

Summer
The Summer extends from June through August and well into September with highs often in the 80's and lows in the 50s and 60s.

Fall
Branson's Fall is October and November with November high temperatures still averaging in the 50s and lower 60s.

Downtown Branson Fiddle Festival Returns this August

The 22nd Annual Downtown Branson Fiddle Festival is scheduled for August 27, 28 & 29, 2010. The event will encompass the entire downtown Branson area, with performances planned in historic downtown Branson and at the Branson Landing.

The big kick-off even will take place at the Branson Landing at 8pm, with Big Smith performing in front of the fountains. Then, on Saturday, August 28, the preliminary performances will take place from 10am-6pm. There will also be vendors, entertainment, children’s area, seminars and demonstrations available. A square dance in the streets of historic downtown Branson will take place from 7pm-10pm.

On Sunday, August 29, a gospel celebration with Bob Hubbard is scheduled for 10am. After that, the performance finals will take place from 12pm-5pm at the Branson Landing. The historic downtown Branson area will also have the aforementioned events on Sunday as well, from 9am-4pm.

The fiddling seminars and other events will be held in the “Ozarks Music and Heritage Tent” located in the historic district. It will include guitar seconding, fiddle making, swing fiddling, cross tuning and square and round dancing.

The entirety of this event is FREE. It is FREE to watch and FREE to enter.

The festival is sponsored by The Downtown Branson Main Street Association, in conjunction with The Historic Downtown Branson Business Owners, The Branson Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, The Branson Landing and the City of Branson.

Branson MO Kids Attractions Equal Family Fun

The summer season is officially here, and that means it’s time to take the kids on a family vacation. Branson, Missouri is a wonderful family vacation destination, offering a variety of activities that cater to the 12 and under set. This summer, take advantage of all of the things to do in Branson and your kids won’t have time to say “I’m bored.

Branson shows have a variety of themes, but there are several that really capture the attention of children. The Kirby VanBurch Magic Show, with its grand illusions and amazing disappearing acts, will keep kids interested throughout the nearly two hour production. Plus, the big cats that are part of the production add to the allure of the show. Another great animal show to take kids to is Grand Country’s Amazing Pets, a show that features a troupe of trained dogs and housecats, plus a wily monkey named Frankie. This show has a lot of audience participation and kid-friendly interaction, which makes for a lot of laughs and makes the kids in the audience feel like a part of the show. Another top choice in the Branson MO Kids shows category is the Acrobats of China. The dazzling acrobatics, mystical magic and unique talents featured in this production will keep the little ones spellbound.

A few of the other summer-time favorites include the Dixie Stampede Dinner and Show, Yakov’s Moscow Circus, the Hamner Barber Magical Variety Show and Peter Pan featuring Cathy Rigby.

Attractions for kids in Branson MO are also easy to find, as Branson strives to provide a family friendly vacation for those of all ages. One of the top Branson MO attractions is Silver Dollar City. During the summer season they host America’s biggest KidsFest, a celebration geared especially towards kids that includes shows like The Magic of Peter Gossamer, Chris Perondi’s Stunt Dog Experience and appearances by everybody’s favorite friends, including SpongeBob Squarepants, the Veggie Tales and Dora and Diego. Plus, Silver Dollar City is home to The Grand Exposition, an area of the park with 10 family rides including the Magnificent Wave Carousel and The Royal Tea Party. Children also love to play around at Geyser Gulch, home to the world’s largest treehouse and lots of wet water fun.

Other Branson Missouri kids attractions include Kids Kountry by The Track, which specializes in rides geared towards kids 2-7 years of age, including go-karts kids can drive and pint-size amusement rides. White Water, Branson’s only outdoor water park, also has several areas that cater to the little ones. Little Squirts Waterworks, Rain Tree Island and Splash Island are all especially designed for little tykes.

When on a Branson vacation there are a number of places to stay, although there are a couple of Branson hotels that make playing where you stay an added bonus. The Grand Country Inn & Indoor Waterpark, with its 20,000 square-foot indoor waterpark and additional on-site entertainment options like indoor mini-golf and a two-story arcade, is a great choice for families. Castle Rock Resort and Indoor Waterpark features a 30,000 square foot indoor waterpark with lazy river, two water slides and two 500 gallon dump buckets. The Welk Resort Branson has a 10,000 square-foot Splashatorium with waterslide and interactive splash zone, plus seasonal outdoor mini-golf which is free to guests. Another great option is Still Waters Resort, featuring a zero-entry pool, 15 foot waterfall, three outdoor pools, a pebble beach and free kayaks, paddleboats, inner tubes and bikes.

Enjoy a Southern Gospel Picnic Festival at Silver Dollar City

Silver Dollar City is hosting its Southern Gospel Picnic festival in Branson August 25 – September 6, 2010. The festival will celebrate southern gospel music and southern cooking, and all of the parks thrilling rides, shows and craftsmen will be available too.

There will be hundreds of performances from the top names in southern gospel music including The Isaacs, Triumphant Quartet, The Inspirations, Legacy Five, Squire Parsons, Down East Boys, The Perrys, Jeff & Sheri Easter and many more.

Echo Hollow Amphitheatre will also feature fabulous music performances during the Southern Gospel Nights portion of the event. The show begins at 6 pm each evening during the festival, 7 pm on September 4 & 5. Seating in Echo Hollow Amphitheatre will begin two hours prior to show time, weather permitting.

Plus, delicious food will be served at The House of Chicken & Fixin’s on the City’s Square. Everybody’s favorite dishes, from fried chicken to hickory smoked barbeque, will fill be available to fill your plate while you listen to the beautiful southern gospel music floating through the air.

Zip into the Night at Branson Zipline & Canopy Tours

The Branson Zipline & Canopy Tours at Wolfe Creek Preserve is offering nighttime fun for Branson visitors during the summer months. Both the Ozarks Xplorer Tour and the Flying Prospector Tour are available with “in the dark” themes, now until the first week of September.

The Ozarks Xplorer Tour takes place nightly on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 7:40pm and 8:40pm and features seven ziplines and ten suspension bridges. The two and ½ hour guided tour gives guests an entirely different adrenaline rush when you do it at dark, as opposed to in the daytime.

The Flying Prospector Tour is the shorter version of the Ozarks Xplorer Tour, lasting around 90 minutes. The guided nighttime excursion includes four ziplines and seven suspension bridges. Nighttime Prospector Tours are offered Thursday – Sunday at 8pm, 9:20pm and 10:20pm. The night tours will be available until September 11, 2010.

Ride into the Night at Silver Dollar City's Moonlight Madness

Silver Dollar City is hosting Moonlight Madness July 24 – August 8, 2010 in Branson. This unique event allows guests to enjoy Kids Fest all day long and ride into the night, as the park will remain open until 10pm.

With Silver Dollar City extending and expanding Moonlight Madness, families have the opportunity to scream under the stars for more days and longer nights. The park, as well as the 30 rides and attractions, will be open all day and will stay open into the night July 27 - Aug. 9. Open from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m., Silver Dollar City is giving families the chance to have one more value vacation or daytime outing before summer turns into fall. Daytime visitors to the theme park will be able to stay late and enjoy the rides by the light of the moon, and those who arrive after 5 p.m. pay just $25 for the night ride thrills.

For Moonlight Madness, select shops and restaurants will be staying open late with supper specials and thrill-seeker deals.

New for 2010 is Silver Dollar City’s Street Dance which will begin at 9pm each evening. Everybody’s favorite dance songs will be featured, including The Chicken Dance, The Electric Slide and The Cotton-Eyed Joe. Plus, the action-packed country music show GAC Nights in Echo Hollow will be available as well.

Table Rock Lake Dam in Branson Re-Opens for Tours

The Table Rock Lake Dam in Branson is now open for tours. It has been nearly nine years since the last tour of the Dam, as tour operations ceased after 9/11.

The Dam Tours are being operated by Ozarks Rivers Heritage Foundation. Projects of the Ozarks Rivers Heritage Foundation will include educational programs, research, volunteer opportunities, land and lake access improvements, and educational tours of the dam and powerhouse. The Ozarks Rivers Heritage Foundation is also aiding in the operation of the Dewey Short Visitor Center.

Visitors to the dam will be able to tour non-sensitive areas of the dame and power plant to witness how the Corps of Engineers maintains and operates the facility for power generation and flood control. Tour will depart from the Dewey Short Visitor Center and are includes a ride on a San Francisco Cable Car. Adult admission is $10 and children 6-11 are $5.

Branson Voted Best Weekend Getaway by AAA

Branson was recently voted the best small city for a weekend getaway by AAA members in the AAA Best of the Midwest Poll.

The poll consists of 20 categories and was based on approximately 2,500 ballots after finalists were listed in the May/June issue of AAA Midwest Traveler. Branson also placed first in the best state park category for Table Rock Lake State Park.

Other honors for Branson included third place for best family summer destination, second for best large hotel with Chateau on the Lake, and second for best place for quirky souvenirs with Dicks’ 5 & 10.

Branson Airport Expands Atlanta Service

Branson Airport officials have announced additional non-stop service to and from Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson airport.

The airport and AirTran Airways have announced that the new routes will begin September 16th. AirTran will add a third Atlanta arrival on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and a third departure on Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

Branson Airport Executive Director Jeff Bourk says the flights will provide new connections to destinations such as Montego Bay-Jamaica, Nassau-Bahamas and Cancun-Mexico.

Veterans Homecoming Event in Branson Announces Changes

Branson is famous for its patriotism. During the annual “A Veteran’s Homecoming” in November, thousands of veterans, our nation’s heroes, flock to the area for events and tributes dedicated to their service and this great country. This year there will be a few changes made, recently announced by the Branson Veterans Task Force during a city-wide meeting.

Opening ceremonies for the November event will now be held at Sight & Sound Theatre and the closing event will take place at Tri-Lakes Center. The opening ceremony will begin at 12:30pm and run for about 90 minutes on November 5. The closing ceremony will begin at 2:30pm on November 11.

Nelly to Perform in Concert in Branson

Branson will expand its musical offerings when hip-hop artist and rapper Nelly performs at an open-air concert on Aug. 21.

The concert will be part of the reopening of the Grand Palace, which has been closed for renovations. Nelly, a native of St. Louis, will perform in the music venue's rear parking lot because of continuing construction inside the building.

Paul Dunn, manager of the Grand Palace, says Nelly's show will be the first hip-hop concert performed in Branson. Dunn had previously stated he had planned to bring a wider variety of new, famous artists to the resort town, which is known for its country, bluegrass and gospel shows.

Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes Jr., is a Grammy award winner who has had hits such as "Country Grammar," "Dilemma," and "Hot in Here."
