Branson Fiddle Festival Plays this August in Downtown Branson

Fiddlers and fiddle fans will flock to Branson, Missouri for the 24th Annual Branson Fiddle Festival and Mid-American Fiddlers Championship.  The festival, scheduled for August 24-26, features demonstrations, entertainers strolling the streets of downtown, workshops, an inside the tent Saturday night “Square Dance” and more.

The nationally recognized event kicks off with a free jam session and Gambler’s Draw competition, with a $5 entry fee, on Friday night from 6pm-10pm.  During the Gambler’s Draw competition song titles will be placed in a hat. Fiddlers competing draw a title out of the hat and are required to play that song. If they can’t play the song, they are eliminated from the competition. The last fiddler standing will be the winner and will receive all of the entry fee money that was placed in the hat.
The Fiddlers Championship during the Branson Fiddle Festival will award more than $6,500 in cash prizes in five separate divisions.  The winner will receive an invitation to the 2013 Grand Masters Fiddle Championship in Nashville, Tennessee.  Contest will be in the “Ozarks Music & Culture Tent” in Historic Downtown behind Dick’s 5 & 10. Prelims are Saturday, Aug. 25 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Finals will be on Sunday, August 26 from noon to 5 p.m.  To watch the contests perform there is a $3 entrance fee for adults and $1.50 fee for children.
