Branson is known for the largest Veterans Homecoming
Celebration in the nation. Even though
the event is four months away, the event organizers are already in the planning
stages. All of the regular festivities,
including reunions, a day room, free lunches and a vendor village, are
returning.
This year, the Opening Ceremony is also returning. “Vets for Vets” will be performed on November
5. The show will include tap dancers,
singers, musicians, comedians and even a 12-piece orchestra. An upbeat show, the finale will feature “Dancing
in the Streets.”
“Vets for Vets” is unique as it is specifically seeking
entertainers who are also veterans.
The vendor village, day room, lunch room and other
activities will return to Factory Merchants Branson, commonly known as the Red
Roof mall, despite the fact the mall is closing at the end of June.
Other activities planned for Veterans Homecoming 2012
includes the 16th Annual Military Gala and Banquet, set for 5 p.m. Nov. 9; the
8th Annual Tribute to Women Veterans Nov. 9 at Stone Castle Hotel and Conference Center; and the Traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall at Welk Resort.
