The show, which debuted November 3 with the opening of Silver Dollar City’s Old Time Christmas Festival, has been in the works for about six years. The park knew the movie version of “It’s A Wonderful Life” was a holiday tradition for many and wanted to bring the magic of the film to life in a stage production. Doing so was quite the endeavor, though, as they had to consolidate a 130 minute movie into a 60 minute stage production. Musical numbers were also added to give it the Silver Dollar City signature. A cast of 14 actors play 25 different roles in 20 different scenes. The story touches many due to its themes involving human emotions, sacrifices and the joy of treasuring the gifts we all receive each and every day.
“It’s A Wonderful Life” is performed at the Red Gold Heritage Hall. Performances of the show are included with the purchase of Silver Dollar City tickets. Silver Dollar City's Old Time Chistmas Festival runs through December 30, 2012.
