Jonah is another Sight and Sound production based on the pages of the Bible. Jonah debuted last year at Sight and Sound’s Lancaster, Pennsylvania location to rave reviews. The $3 million show is perhaps the most family-friendly Sight and Sound production yet as children are familiar with the show’s concept through Sunday school. Plus, the staging and special effects create an immersive environment for children and adults alike.Set 700 years before the birth of Christ, the show follows Jonah, a prophet of God. The show begins when Jonah disobeys God and runs away his adventures continue as he toils through a terrible storm, encounters an enormous whale and struggles with his trust in God.
The cast of the show will total 50. They will performance in one-of-a-kind costumes against over 70 set pieces, including the largest single set piece ever built by Sight and Sound – a 50-foot long, 28-foot tall, 30,000 pound boat that when open at the hull spans 50 feet. Thanks to special state-of-the-art effects the underwater experience is stunning too, as glowing jelly fish, coral reefs and a gigantic fish come life.
Before Jonah premieres next spring Branson visitors will be treated to Miracle of Christmas November 2 – December 28, 2013.
